The Enhanced Games today announced a landmark moment: decorated American swimmer Megan Romano will compete in the inaugural Enhanced Games event, scheduled for Memorial Day Weekend 2026 at Resorts World Las Vegas. Romano's commitment marks the first American athlete to join the groundbreaking competition, and significantly, the first female athlete. Romano will compete in 50M and 100M freestyle.

"I'm incredibly excited to join the Enhanced Games and be part of a movement that is truly athlete-first," said Megan Romano. "This is an opportunity to push the boundaries of human performance in a transparent and scientifically-backed environment, and to compete on a stage where female athletes are valued and compensated fairly. equally. I believe this is the future of sport."

Romano brings an impressive resume to the Enhanced Games. A standout during her collegiate career at the University of Georgia, Romano was instrumental in the Bulldogs Swim Team's success, setting American, U.S. Open, and NCAA records in the 200-yard freestyle and the 800-yard freestyle relay. She also played a pivotal role in the University of Georgia's 2013 NCAA Division I women's team championship.

On the international stage, Romano is a four-time World Champion, earning two long course titles in 2013 and two short course titles in 2012. Her gold medals include contributions to the 4x100m freestyle relay, 4x200m freestyle relay, and 4x100m medley relay. A particularly memorable performance saw her anchor the women's 4x100-meter freestyle relay to a gold medal and a new American record at the 2013 World Aquatics Championships in Barcelona, where she also secured gold in the 4x100-meter medley relay.

"Having a female athlete of Megan's caliber, a four-time World Champion, join the Enhanced Games is a monumental step forward,” said Maximilian Martin, Deputy President of the Enhanced Games. “Her decision validates our vision of creating a platform where athletic potential is maximized, celebrated, and fairly rewarded, regardless of gender or origin. Megan is truly an inspiration and her courage paves the way for many more women to join the Enhanced Games. "

The inaugural Enhanced Games will take place over Memorial Day Weekend 2026, at a purpose-built competition complex at Resorts World Las Vegas. The facility will feature a four-lane 50-meter pool, a six-lane track, and a bespoke weightlifting stage.

The Enhanced Games offers unprecedented financial incentives for athletes. Each individual event will carry a total prize purse of $500,000, with $250,000 awarded to first place. In addition to this, the Enhanced Games will offer appearance fees and bonuses for breaking world records, including $1 million for breaking world records in the 100m sprint and 50m freestyle – recognized as the definitive tests of raw human speed.

The Enhanced Games continue to build a future where athletic excellence and scientific advancement converge, prioritizing athlete well-being, transparency, and unprecedented rewards.
